ELLEN FREEDMAN, CLM
President
 
Ellen Freedman is Founder and President of Freedman Consulting, which assists law firms —primarily in the Delaware and Lehigh Valley— and service-based businesses with management of projects and resolution of problems in all areas on the business side of the firm, including technology, human resources, financial management, risk management, mergers, partner compensation schemes, setting up a practice and so forth. She provides practice management audits, and computer training ad hoc or in a classroom setting.

Freedman currently serves as the Law Practice Management Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and has done so since 1999. In that capacity she assists PBA’s members with management issues and decisions on the business side of their practice.

Freedman holds the designation of Certified Legal Manager through the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the credentialing body for the CLM degree. She was one of the first twenty in the nation to have earned this designation. She holds a Certification in Computer Programming from Maxwell Institute, a Certification in Web Site Design from Temple University, and a B.A. from Temple University, where she also did graduate studies in Criminology. Ellen previously managed inside law firms for almost twenty years. Most of that time was spent in a mid-size (35+ attorney) firm environment.

Freedman has been an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators since 1985. She is an associate member of the American Bar Association and its Law Practice Management and General Practice and Solo Firm Sections.

Freedman has been a frequent author and speaker on law firm management issues on a national, regional and local level.
 
Edward Maule, MCSE CNA CCNA
Network Engineer and Designer
 
Edward Maule has been responsible for designing and implementing systems for every aspect of information technology (IT) needs, from implementing a new computer network, to adding additional applications. His focus has always been on matching the needs of the client with an affordable solution. His specific technical background covers the entire scope of possible IT needs including a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, a Novell Certified Network Administrator, and a Cisco Certified Networking Associate.

Edward has been involved in the information technology field for nine years, and as a consultant for five. In addition to providing private consulting services, he is presently the Senior Network Engineer for the Kennedy Health System, a large hospital system in New Jersey, where he is responsible for all areas of IT management.

Previously, Edward was a Senior Consultant and Project Manager for a leading network integration company that specialized in the IT needs of healthcare and legal practices of all sizes. Their legal clients ranged in size from solo practitioners to firms of over 400 attorneys.

Edward's present engagement with Kennedy allows him the flexibility to rapidly provide support to other firms. Current technology allows most of the diagnostics and support to be provided remotely, and on-site support can be provided within hours or the next day in any emergency situation.
 
Aurora L. Thoder
Application and Training Specialist
 
Aurora L. Thoder assists small to mid-size firms and individual attorneys in the Delaware Valley area with technology consulting, including network design and implementation, custom training, word processing integration, document management, special projects, and macro and template development in WordPerfect and Word. In addition, she provides on-going part-time Systems Management services for a mid-size Philadelphia law firm.

Aurora has over ten years of hands-on experience in legal technology management, including implementation of state-of-the-art networks, training, Systems Management for two mid-sized law firms, and IT Help Desk Management for a large firm.

Aurora is an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), and serves as Listserv Moderator for the Independence Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.
